Practice English At The Barney Library

Do you know someone who is new to the English Language? Are you an adult learning to speak English? Would you like the opportunity to meet people from other countries who come together to practice English? If so, The Barney Library has a program for you!

Starting on Tuesday, June 26 at 10:30 a.m. and continuing throughout the month of July, The Barney Library, 71 Main Street, will host Practice English, a one hour program of conversation for individuals new to speaking English. Working with newspapers, magazines, books, pictures, flashcards, surprise bags, and props, participants engage in conversation in an informal get-together that often becomes a cultural sharing. Very often, newcomers also gain information about customs in America and have questions answered about day-to-day life in The United States.

The group is open to adults who have a basic knowledge of English and are looking to for a chance to increase their knowledge of English, while becoming more fluent. The library has a collection of ESOL materials that may be checked out for individuals wishing to continue their study of English at home. With identification, program participants may obtain a library card
and borrow any of the library's circulating materials.

To register for Practice English, please call The Barney Library at 677-6866. We look forward to welcoming newcomers to The English Language!
