Cool It!

Looking for ways to stay cool?  Why not try The Barney Library at 71 Main Street, Farmington! Families are enjoying the playroom, where the train set and the doll house are great destinations, as they wait for programs to begin.  On Monday, the library hosts Lunch Bunch at 11:30 a.m., Tot Time at 9:30 a.m. on Tuesdays, Pre-school Story Hour on Wednesdays at 10:30 and Dancing Under The Stars on Thursday at 10:30 a.m.  What a cool way to spend the summer.

Clowning Around!

The Barney Library's Pre-school Story hour had a circus theme for three, four and five year olds as part of its first session.  In addition to enjoying stories, children marched in a circus parade and pretended they were trained seals doing balancing tricks.  Each child made a pop-up clown with  a cup, wooden stick, paper, stickers, markers and glue, which they proudly demonstrated while they were using the children's computers.  Here's to our budding artists!

Kicking Off Tot Time's Summer Series

Thirty people kicked off Tot Time's Summer Series at The Barney Library, 71 Main Street, Farmington, this morning.  Moms, Dads, and Caregivers came with babies and toddlers to enjoy stories, songs, rhymes, playtime and socialization for youngsters from birth to age  three.  .Because play is child's work, there was a lot of action in the village, including a budding musician just learning to make music.  The Tuesday morning 9:30 a.m. group will continue thru July and newcomers are welcome.

Welcome Connecticut Bristol Olde Tyme Fiddlers Club!

Three dozen people celebrated summer with the music of The Connecticut Bristol Olde Tyme Fiddlers Club and ice cream in The Gallery of The Barney Library, 71 Main Street, Farmington.  Old favorites like "The Irish Washerwoman", "This Land Is Your Land"," God Bless America ", "The Tennessee Waltz ", "The Halloween Jig", "The Isle of Capri", and "The Wabash Cannonball" delighted the audience who clapped in time, sang enthusiastically and tapped their feet to the rhythm of the music
played by a group of fiddlers and a piano player, who all play by ear!  What a energized beginning to the lazy, hazy days of summer, thanks to the generosity of The Friends of The Farmington Libraries!
